Baylor Wins Opening Night 54-20

Opening Day at Best of Preps

Games are back at Chattanooga State this year and the Lady Red Raiders trying to get their crown back.  First game was vs Tyner Rams and Baylor took care of business winning 54-20 and moving on to play East Hamilton Thursday night at 7:00.

The Lady Red Raiders opened the game on a 9-0 run, and their defense continued to smother Tyner throughout, not allowing more than nine points in any quarter as Baylor built a 29-6 lead by halftime.

"I thought we were solid defensively," Lady Red Raiders coach Jon Gibson said. "We've been off for four days, so we probably let the excitement of being back out there playing override our conditioning at times.

"We just have to worry more about us and continuing to improve each time out. We've played a pretty tough schedule already, but that's by design and it will make us better as the season goes."

Hadleigh Klortson scored seven of her 11 points in the first quarter, while Sloane Watson connected on three 3-pointers in the second half and finished with 10 points. Baylor (6-6) got scoring contributions from 11 players in all and hit six 3-pointers as a team.

Kamari McCullough paced Tyner with eight points.
