After a four-year drought, the Baylor girls' golf team resumed their perch atop Division II-AA on Tuesday in capturing the program's 21st state championship at Sevierville Golf Club-the 21st team championship in program history, the most of any boys or girls team in TSSAA history!
The Red Raiders finished at 18-over par for two days, winning by a single shot over runner-up Harpeth Hall. Knoxville Catholic was third at 21-over.
Baylor's Katie Tuder tied for fifth with a total of 6-over 146, while Carlee Rogers finished at 12-over 152 to finish in 9th-place tie. Caroline Au completed her play at 20-over 160. Baylor's 21 state titles is the most of any program in TSSAA golf history.
In the Division II-AA Boys' Championship, Baylor placed fourth and Chattanooga Christian came in fifth as Brentwood Academy won its third straight title.
Baylor was led by freshman Zack Bourgeois' 3-under 141, which was tied for second behind champion Brantley Moore of MUS at 4-under 140. Bourgeois bogeyed three of his first four holes, but rallied to find three birdies in his final round of 73.
Brooks Englert finished tied for fifth at 2-under 142 for Baylor, while teammates Mason Bankston closed with an even par 144 for a 10th-place tie and William Thomason posted 8-over 152.
The Red Raiders finished with a team total of 3-over, seven shots behind Brentwood Academy's 7-under. MUS was runner-up at 2-under, and Christian Brothers third at 2-over.
