Winning by 20 on your home floor back on January 15 was a highlight. Doing it again in a packed Red & Blue gym on the road was another level.
Baylor had to earn every bit of this one.
The Red Raiders trailed 26–17 at halftime and were still down 37–33 at the end of the third quarter. Baylor kept grinding, finally taking its first lead of the night at 44–42 with 1:32 remaining, then delivering in the biggest moments down the stretch.
Schoti Marchand was pouring her heart out for the win, leading all scorers with 18 points and setting the tone with her effort and toughness. With 14 seconds left, Paige Thompson calmly knocked down two massive free throws to push the lead to three.
On the other end, Baylor's defense slammed the door. GPS was unable to run its offense over the final two minutes as the Red Raiders came up with stop after stop. The defense was CLUTCH.
Baylor outscored GPS 17–9 in the fourth quarter to complete the comeback.
Scoring leaders:
- Schoti Marchand: 18
- Aubrey Bush: 13
- Xahara Willis: 9
A gritty, gutsy road win in a hostile environment.
