Playing Career
Liz attended the 2009 Rowing Olympic Development Camp before finishing top 10 at the NCAA DI Rowing Championships in 2010 and 2011. She competed at the 2011 and 2012 Under 23 World Championships and won gold in Womens 8+ at 2010 and 2011 club nationals. Coach Smith has won events in a number of international regattas, some of which include Royal Henley Regatta, Women's Henley Regatta, Holland Beker Regatta, The San Diego Crew Classic, and The Head of the Charles.
Coaching Career
Coach Smith attended the NCAA women's coaches academy in 2016 and 2018. She served as the graduate assistant at Washington State from 2015-2016. During this time, she was also on staff with the New York Athletic Club. She then was the assistant coach at Michigan State from 2016-2019, at USC from 2019-2021, and most recently on staff with the Long Beach Rowing Association from 2021-2025. She took over the Baylor girls' rowing program in the fall of 2025.

Liz is married to Adam, and they have 1 child; Sawyer.
