Best of Preps from Chattanooga State
Baylor 63, Howard 29: Baylor
sophomore Zane Restelli had one of the most impressive all-around performances of the opening round as the 6-foot-4 playmaker scored 17 of his 22 points in the first half and added five steals, five assists and three blocks to his final stat line.
"Zane shared the ball really well and finished with a 5-1 assist-to-turnover ratio," Baylor coach Mark Price said. "He is such a talented offensive player that he sees things too perfectly sometimes and tries to make the perfect play. He made the easy play tonight, and that was a big step forward for him and our team."
The Red Raiders put on a defensive clinic in the third quarter, when they trapped guards on the perimeter and also made scoring inside nearly impossible for the Hustlin' Tigers, allowing just two points in the period.
Howard senior guard Christian Holland made some highly difficult shots while scoring 20 points.
