On Wednesday night in Nashville, Baylor delivered the type of performance built for postseason basketball. Disciplined. Balanced. Connected.
The Red Raiders defeated Ensworth 57–44 to advance to the State Quarterfinals, controlling the game from the opening quarter and steadily building separation.
Baylor led 14–12 at the end of the first, establishing defensive intensity early. In the second quarter, the Red Raiders tightened the screws on the defensive end and converted efficiently on offense, stretching the lead to 30–19 at halftime.
The third quarter proved decisive.
Baylor extended the margin to 42–26 heading into the fourth, executing in the half court, limiting second chance opportunities, and continuing to share the basketball. The balanced approach defined the night.
Four Red Raiders finished in double figures:
- Ezra Sixto 13
- Mantas Paldauskas 12
- Jake Neal 11
- Karolis Anuskevicius 11
That distribution made Baylor difficult to guard and reflected the team first mentality that has fueled this postseason run.
After the game, Coach McDowell emphasized what stood out most about his team's performance.
"I was proud of our team's connectedness and competitiveness, this group has earned another couple days together which is always a gift at this time of the year. We are excited to go compete together in Memphis this weekend."
With the 57–44 victory, Baylor advances to the State Quarterfinals to face Briarcrest on Saturday at 4:00 PM EST in Memphis.
Another opportunity.
Another step forward.
