Baylor remains unbeaten in region play defeating CCS 8-0. It was a great night honoring many special women and their families in our softball community who have been affected by breast cancer.
Kaylee Snyder only gave up 3 singles, with 9 strikeouts in a complete game. She also hit a solo homerun in the bottom of the 2nd to give Baylor the early 1-0 lead, which would essentially be all they needed. Snyder also led off the 4th inning with a single.
Riley Oleksik's two out RBI single in the third gave Baylor another run.
In the fourth inning, sister Rory Oleksik singled, driving home the 3rd run. Syd Sharpes's fielder's choice and Rylee Jasper's RBI single scored two more runs for a 5-0 lead after 4. Chloe Cunningham singled before Amiya Leach and Rory Oleksik hit back to back RBI doubles. Riley Oleksik added one more run with a solo homerun in the 6th.
Addi Yates led the game off with a base hit. Holly Merritt had one hit, Chloe Cunningham was 2-2 with a walk and scored twice.
In a ceremony before the game, former players Kaitlyn Brannan-Phillips '07, Sarah Moore '13, and Emily Rye '19 were presented roses in honor of their mothers who lost their courageous battle to breast cancer.
Robyn Johnson Walston '01, Wanda Harelson (mother of Assistant Coach Susan Harelson Ross '91), Mary Lu Phillips (mother of Lindsay Phillips Roga '99 and Brett Phillips '02), and Kelli Hancock Layne '96 were also honored and recognized.
Melissa Snyder '90, 15-year survivor (mother of Kaylee Snyder '24), and Emily Bagley (mother of Brenna Bagley '24), threw out the ceremonial first pitches.
Baylor will play three games on the road in Manchester this weekend.
