Among the 12 recognized as the area's top multisport athletes, Baylor is home to two of them. Amari Jefferson and Nelson McKnight were highlighted for their roles on the baseball and football fields.
Amari Jefferson, Baylor: The University of Alabama will soon reap the benefits from the state's top wide receiver. Jefferson reeled in 74 catches for 1,401 yards and 20 touchdowns in his final prep football season, which included eight receptions for 210 yards and two scores in the BlueCross Bowl as the Red Raiders came within a win of repeating as state champions. Jefferson has excelled on the baseball field this spring, batting .412 with 19 extra-base hits (six home runs) and 38 RBIs for the nationally recognized program through Wednesday's win over Boyd Buchanan.

Nelson McKnight, Baylor: The left-handed slugger entered Thursday batting .360 with 25 extra-base hits over the past two seasons, which includes a career-high four home runs this year while drawing 21 walks and striking out 10 times. In football, he was an all-state linebacker for the Red Raiders and set a TSSAA state title game record with a 98-yard fumble return for a touchdown after stripping the ball away from McCallie.
