Baylor Over Dalton 74-42

Baylor Basketball Dominates In Win Over Dalton

Neal, Anuskevicius Lead Red Raiders' 74-42 Win

Jake Neal and Karolis Anuskevicius lead Baylor to a defensive-powered victory against Dalton.

The Red Raiders jumped on the Catamounts early, outscoring Dalton 23-6 in the first quarter and never looked back, totally dominating visiting Dalton (GA), 74-42.

Three consecutive offensive rebounds in the opening period led to easy buckets and set the tone for the evening.

"I thought our defensive effort and connectedness has been pretty good this year," Baylor head coach Quinn McDowell said. "Especially in the first half, we maintained our level on that side of the basketball and gave them some problems in terms of being able to create advantages and get open shots."

Ezra Sixto added 14 points for Baylor, while Barker contributed eight and Paldauskas chipped in seven.

The Red Raiders' precise ball movement was too much for Dalton to handle. Baylor knocked down eight 3-pointers, with Neal, Anuskevicius and Barker each connecting on two from beyond the arc.

"We really want to share the basketball," Coach McDowell said. "We believe that when the ball moves and players move, and then you learn how to make good decisions, you'll be able to create a good shot and a great advantage for your team."

McDowell emphasized that the team's suffocating defense fueled its offensive attack, allowing them to push the ball in transition more than it had in previous contests.

"Playing hard isn't enough," McDowell said. "You actually have to play basketball well and try to execute the things that you want to accomplish on that side of the floor as well."

Laubscher led Dalton with nine points. Craft added eight, while Paniagua and Addison each scored six.
