Tri-Cities took control in the fourth quarter to lead the Eagles in a hard-fought victory over the Baylor Red Raiders on Saturday afternoon.
Lofton Looney and Aaron Pomrenke lead the Eagles with 20 and 19 points. A major factor in achieving those point totals was the three-ball, with Looney nailing down four deep buckets.
Both teams started well from distance in the first quarter, with Baylor finding the basket from range three times and Tri-Cities with four.
To start the second quarter, Baylor went on a speedy 5-2 run, which forced an early timeout for Tri-Cites.
The Eagles' head coach, Tyrone Smith, made the right adjustments during the break, as a series of costly fouls by the Red Raiders nearly evened things up before halftime.
However, an explosive slam dunk by Ezra Sixto and a clean layup off the Eagles' turnover by William Barker sent Baylor into the break with a four-point lead.
Midway through the third quarter, a technical foul on Baylor completely shifted the momentum in favor of Tri-Cites. Ending the third period with a two-point advantage for the Eagles.
The fourth quarter opened with a fast exchange of buckets, but costly fouls and missed rebound opportunities led to a 58-48 win for the Tri-Cities Eagles.
William Barker led the Red Raiders with ten points, 6 of those coming from beyond the arc.
Tri Cities moves to 12-6 on the season while Baylor falls to 12-4
