BORO Bound!

BAYLOR IMPROVED TO 23-9 with two of its biggest wins of the season on the road at Christ Presbyterian Academy.  Baylor was the third seed behind CCS and GPS, so they had to travel on Wednesday.  But on a day when it was either win or go home, the Lady Red Raiders stepped up and had one of their best days of the season as they breezed to wins of 13-1 and 14-3.

"I'm so proud of how we played as this is the first time all season that we've had a complete lineup with no injuries or illness," said veteran coach Kelli Smith as her team rode home on the team bus.

"It really didn't feel like two run-ruled games, but it seemed like the old Baylor finally showed up.  And we were down 3-0 in the second game before rallying to win.  We were really focused as our energy was great.  We knew we didn't want to have to come back for a third game, but I was confident, even when we trailed in the second game.

"Just another total team effort and I'm so proud of Addison Wallington as she got the win in both games.  But from top to bottom, we all played really well," Smith concluded.

Freshman Wrigley Burge led the first win with three hits and two RBIs that came on a triple.  Olivia Elkhill and Amiya Leach both had two hits as well.  Then in the second game, Xahara Willis slugged a two-run homer to get Baylor back in it while Rylee Jasper, Emma Hartline and Burge all had two hits.

Elkhill had a great day as she finished with a grand slam and five RBIs in the second game in addition to a double.

Baylor, now 23-9, will face Chattanooga Christian in Tuesday's opener at McKnight Field.
