Baylor soccer continued its strong start to the 2026 season Saturday, earning a 3-0 victory over Briarcrest in a non-region match at Baylor.
The Red Raiders struck early when Ayanna Hamler found the back of the net in the ninth minute off a cross from Cassi Johnson, giving Baylor a 1-0 advantage.
Baylor added to its lead in the 35th minute. Reese Rowlett delivered a set piece that Brylee Faulkner converted for the goal, sending the Red Raiders into halftime with a 2-0 lead.
Hamler struck again in the second half. In the 62nd minute, Abby Lewis delivered a cross that Hamler finished for her second goal of the match and the final tally in Baylor's 3-0 victory.
Just as impressive as the three goals was another strong performance from the Baylor defense. The Red Raiders have now gone three consecutive matches without allowing a goal.
"Third game in a row without conceding a goal! I'm really proud of the mentality and effort our defense showed today," head coach Curtis Blair said. "We need to continue challenging ourselves against quality opponents like Briarcrest. They are always one of the better teams in the West, and they've shown once again why they are right there at the top. Proud of our team and the way we continue to compete!
"We have another tough one against Hendersonville at noon at Baylor on Sunday!"
Standouts: Ella Metzner (GK), Grace King, Harley Elam, Finley Spivey, Kate Price, Macey Conrad and Charlotte Hoss.
With the victory, Baylor improves to 2-0-1 on the season and will return to action Sunday at noon when the Red Raiders host Hendersonville at Baylor.
