McCallie ended a 19-match win streak for Baylor and its first win for Blue Tornado in the series since 2006!
It's been a long time coming, but the McCallie Blue Tornado wrestling team snapped a long losing streak to arch-rival Baylor on Thursday night as they posted a stirring 39-32 victory at home.
The match began at 190 pounds where Baylor got the early advantage when Maximus Norman posted a major decision for a 4-0 lead.
McCallie then got three straight pins from Cooper Gentle, Carson Gentle and Jaxon Layne before Axel Ritchie added five team points with a technical fall for a 23-4 lead.
Jed Pierce got a forfeit for the Blue Tornado before Dylan Villers posted a major decision at 138 to put McCallie ahead 33-11.
Baylor responded with a decision from Malachi Puckett to make it 33-14 before William Emendorfer, Titus Norman and Hunter Sturgill got consecutive pins for the Red Raiders to make it close at 33-32, but James Cross put the final nail in the coffin with a third-period pin at 175 to clinch the win for McCallie.
Jacob Bond had a major decision and William Phillips a regular decision for Baylor's other wins.
