Baylor Rolls Past GPS, 8–1, to Advance to East Region Finals

Baylor Soccer continued its postseason run in dominant fashion on Tuesday night, defeating GPS 8–1 in the East Region semifinal match at Baylor Soccer Complex. The win propels the Red Raiders into Saturday's East Region Final at Webb School of Knoxville, with kickoff set for 1:00 p.m.

Baylor wasted no time getting on the board, as Reese Rowlett scored in the 4th minute off a crisp assist from Paige Thompson. Just seven minutes later, Rowlett struck again — this time finishing a well-placed cross from Emily Betterton to make it 2–0.

The Red Raiders continued to pour on the pressure. In the 26th minute, Ayanna Hamler found the back of the net off another cross from Betterton, and at the 36th, Maddie Hawk converted on a rebound from Rowlett. Before halftime, Kate Bennett added Baylor's fifth goal with a finish assisted by Ryleigh Ramey, sending the Red Raiders into the break up 5–0.

Baylor carried its momentum into the second half. Hamler scored her second goal of the night in the 51st minute from a Zoe Misenhimer pass, followed by Hadley Griffith's strike off another assist from Thompson in the 55th. Hawk closed out Baylor's scoring with her second goal in the 78th minute off a Cassi Johnson cross. GPS's Callie West added a late goal in the 79th minute for the final 8–1 margin.

Coach's Comments:
"This game was a lot like the first time we played them in the sense that GPS created a good chance early before we got settled in," said Coach Curtis Blair. "Credit to Coach Andy Sarjant — they made some adjustments that took us a few minutes to sort out. The difference tonight was in our finishing. We created those same quality chances as before, but this time we executed. We've spent a lot of time training on the quality of service and the timing of runs in the box, and we did a great job of that tonight."

Standouts
Charlotte Hoss, Brylee Faulkner, Lilly Catalanatto, and Elizabeth Silva all turned in strong performances as Baylor controlled the pace and possession throughout the match.

Baylor now turns its attention to Saturday's East Region Final against Webb (Knoxville), with a berth to the state tournament on the line.
