MEMPHIS, Tenn. — The Baylor Cross Country teams turned in outstanding performances at the TSSAA Division II-AA State Championships held at Shelby Farms Park in Memphis, with the boys finishing 2nd and the girls placing 5th in the state.
Boys Finish 2nd — First Podium Since 2008
The Baylor Boys Cross Country team delivered one of the strongest races in program history, earning runner-up honors and the school's first podium finish since 2008.
Senior Marshall McConville led the Red Raiders with a stellar 2nd-place overall finish (15:25), followed by Lake Montgomery (12th, 16:00).
Cash Carlson (15th) narrowly edged teammate Harrison Stroud (16th) to claim the final All-State spot, while Brecken McKenna (26th) completed Baylor's scoring five.
Girls Place 5th in the State
The Baylor Girls Cross Country team showcased heart and determination, finishing 5th overall in a deep and talented field.
Freshman Addy Cotter blazed to a 2nd-place individual finish, while 8th grader Teagan Lewis turned in her fastest and most complete race of the season — a true breakthrough performance.
Gracey Weekley rounded out the top five with a strong, consistent effort that helped secure Baylor's top-five team finish.
Seniors Ruby Dozier, Kate Henry, Claire Mayberry, and Ella Rogers raced their final state meet with focus and pride — embodying the spirit of Baylor Cross Country with every stride.
Season Not Finished Yet
The Red Raiders are not done yet. Both the boys and girls teams will compete in the Nashville regional meet on November 15 and then head to the Nike Southeast Regional Championships on November 22, where they'll race against some of the top programs in the region.
