Baylor cross country officially opened its 5K racing season with an impressive weekend as the Red Raiders split their squads between two meets in South Carolina and Georgia.

The varsity group turned in a big performance at the Pink House Invitational in Hardeeville, South Carolina, highlighted by a team championship, a course record and several personal-best performances.

The Baylor girls captured the team championship, with nearly the entire squad recording a personal record. Addy Cotter led the way with another outstanding performance, setting a new course record.

The Baylor boys also had a strong day, finishing second overall. Harrison Stroud, Cash Carlson and Brecken McKenna each earned top-10 finishes as multiple Red Raiders recorded personal bests.

The performances from both teams also earned Baylor the Combined Team Score Cup Championship, putting an exclamation point on an outstanding day for the varsity squads.

While the varsity group competed in South Carolina, another Baylor squad took on the Saturday Night Lights Invitational hosted by Dalton State.
Competing against varsity teams from both Tennessee and Georgia, the Red Raiders turned in several personal-best times along with a number of first-ever 5K performances.
Ford Vaughan and Zac Wiggins highlighted the effort by cracking the top 20 in the varsity race while competing in the first high school 5Ks of their careers.
With strong performances from both squads, course records, personal bests and some championship hardware, BXC's 5K season is officially underway.
