Season Ends in State Quarterfinals for Baylor Soccer

Baylor Soccer Falls in State Quarterfinals

Baylor traveled to Nashville to take on unbeaten Ensworth with a trip to the Final Four on the line.

At the 12th minute, Philippe LaForge gave the Red Raiders the early lead, scoring off a Marshall Bible throw-in. Ensworth answered in the 37th minute with a goal off a free kick to tie it 1-1 heading into halftime.

In the second half, Ensworth capitalized on a penalty kick in the 43rd minute and added another goal in the 57th minute to secure a 3-1 win.

"It was not the ending that we expected, but in this game of soccer it can be exciting and cruel all at the same time," said Coach Curtis Blair. "Even when we were down, I thought we created some great chances to tie it up. To win a state title is very difficult, and you need the ball to bounce your way sometimes — it didn't go that way for us today. The one item that I will take away from this game is our guys never stopped competing and creating chances. We left everything out there until the final whistle."

Baylor closes the season with pride and gratitude for its senior leadership: Jackson Bergamann, Marshall Bible, Miles Busch, Philippe LaForge, and Carter Weekley.
