The Montgomery Bell Academy Big Red wrestling team took a road trip on Tuesday as they left their home in Nashville and traveled to Chattanooga where they faced two of the best teams in the state.

Those guys from the Music City didn't have much to cheer about as Baylor and McCallie both dominated their matches with the Red Raiders winning 54-24 before the Blue Tornado posted a 60-12 victory.

It was the first dual meet for both Baylor and McCallie.  The intent of the match was for seeding purposes at the upcoming State Duals, which will be held at the end of the month in Franklin.

Baylor coach Sean Russell knows that he has a strong group of experienced upperclassmen and they all came through like he expected.  There are a couple of other spots in the lineup that still need a little fine-tuning.

"I thought we wrestled hard and our best ones took care of business with pins," he said shortly after the opening match ended.

"We've got some real butt kickers on this team and we have others who just have to keep getting better. Our goal coming in was to totally dominate and we did for the most part.  I'm good with the effort as we did what we were supposed to do for the most part.  But we still have a lot of work to do," the first-year Red Raider head man expressed afterward.

Titus Norman, Dylan Reel and Rock Shurette got Baylor off and running with three straight first-period pins.  MBA responded with consecutive wins from Maxwell Beauchamp, Dominic Simpson and John Phillip Simpson to cut Baylor's lead to 18-12, but just as quickly, Riley Alcantar, Gabe Swann and Chris Phillips all posted first-period pins.

Chris Phillips, Malachi Puckett and Ollie Phillips wrapped things for the Baylor with pins.

Daniel Bautista and Ruger Pennington were the only other winners for MBA in the opening match.
