Red Raiders improve to 25-4 and will face CPA Tuesday in Murfreesboro
The Baylor School volleyball team is heading back to the TSSAA Division II-AA State Final Four after an impressive 3-0 sweep of Brentwood Academy on Saturday.
The Red Raiders took care of business on their home court, winning 25-20, 25-22 and 25-14 to improve to 25-4 on the season and punch their ticket to Murfreesboro for a chance to compete for a state championship.
Saturday's matchup brought the season full circle for Baylor. The Red Raiders opened their 2026 campaign with a victory over Brentwood Academy on August 20, and nearly two months later, the result was the same with much more at stake.
"It was a really well-rounded match for us as we had four days to prepare. We were ready to go when it all began," Baylor head coach Sarah Lail said following the victory.
Baylor controlled the opening set, taking a 25-20 victory, but Brentwood Academy challenged the Red Raiders in the second. Trailing by six points, Baylor battled back to capture the set 25-22, swinging the momentum firmly in its favor.
The Red Raiders carried that energy into the third set, closing out the match with a convincing 25-14 victory.
"We did a nice job of executing our game plan as everyone did their job, which makes us hard to beat when we do that," Lail said. "We were down by six points in the second set, but did a nice job battling back. That's when the tide started to shift as the momentum picked up for us at that point."
Baylor's offensive balance was on full display throughout the afternoon.
Taylor Warren led the Red Raiders with 10 kills, four digs and a block, while Molly Billington added nine kills, four digs and two blocks. Kenzie Johnson contributed seven kills, and Fergie Hammel finished with six kills and two blocks.
Milyn Hold continued her outstanding season running the Baylor offense, dishing out 39 assists while adding 14 digs, four kills and two blocks.
Defensively, Rory Oleksik led Baylor with 18 digs, while Nina Lail collected nine digs and delivered four service aces. Gabby Minton provided a strong presence at the net with four blocks and five kills.
The Red Raiders also received valuable contributions throughout the lineup, demonstrating the depth and balance that have helped carry Baylor into the final week of the season.
"We were really good in service and passing, but we have so many weapons as we're really balanced," Lail added. "Today was one of our best matches this fall and we're so excited about going back to Murfreesboro next week."
With Saturday's victory, Baylor advances to the State Final Four, where the Red Raiders will face Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) on Tuesday, October 20, at noon Central Time (1 p.m. Eastern) at Middle Tennessee Christian School in Murfreesboro.
After months of preparation, competition and hard work, Baylor now finds itself among the final four teams competing for the Division II-AA state championship.
The Red Raiders have earned their opportunity.
Now it's time to finish the job.
