The road to the 2026 season takes another step forward tonight as Baylor Football hits the field for its first official scrimmage of the preseason against a talented Maryville squad.
After weeks of summer workouts, conditioning, and practice, tonight gives the Red Raiders their first opportunity to see all of that preparation come together in a game-like environment. It's another important step in building towards an exciting season.
The work doesn't stop there. Next Friday, Baylor will travel to Buford for another challenging scrimmage before turning its full attention to the regular season.
And if you missed the announcement, the Red Raiders will open the 2026 season on a national stage when Baylor hosts Brentwood Academy on Thursday, August 20. The matchup from Heywood Stadium will be televised live on ESPN2, giving fans across the country a chance to watch one of the nation's premier season openers.
Tonight is another opportunity to improve, evaluate, and continue building toward opening night. Best of luck to Maryville this season, and here's to another step forward for the Red Raiders.
