Baylor picked up another hard-fought road victory Tuesday, defeating Hardin Valley 1-0 in a non-region matchup.
Adri Carey provided the difference in the 19th minute, scoring off a pass from Ayanna Hamler to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 advantage. That lead held through halftime and the Baylor defense took care of the rest, preserving the shutout.
Coach Curtis Blair praised his team's ability to find a way to win.
"Sometimes it's more about trying to figure out how to win games with grit and passion more than technique and tactics. I thought we did a great job of that today. We are still growing as a team, and this continues to help us learn how to win close games. Hardin Valley is a quality team and well coached."
Standouts included Brylee Faulkner, Kinsley Faulkner, Harley Elam, Charlotte Hoss, Grace King, Reese Rowlett and goalkeeper Mackenzie Douglas.
Baylor improves to
5-0-1 on the season and will return home on
Sept. 8 to take on Knoxville Catholic.
