Baylor Soccer Pushes National No. 2 Dalton to Penalty Kicks in Thriller

Baylor traveled to #2-ranked Dalton for a non-region matchup and battled through a hard-fought contest in front of a packed crowd.

Dalton struck first in the 22nd minute off a misclearance and added a second goal in the 52nd minute off a cross to go up 2–0.

Baylor responded quickly—Carter Weekley buried a free kick in the 54th minute, and just six minutes later, Marshall Bible scored off a long throw-in to tie it 2–2.

The match ended in a draw in regulation, but Dalton edged out Baylor in penalties, 5–4.

Coach Blair:

"I was really pleased at how we played overall. We made two mistakes and Dalton capitalized on them—give them credit. Dalton has a ton of tradition, and they had a huge crowd that was amazing to play in front of for both teams. Our guys did a great job of fighting to get back in the game, and give credit to Dalton—they were very good on their penalty kicks."

Standouts:

Thomas Vance, George Coyle, Correll Davis, and goalkeeper Mathew Ramirez.

Record:

Baylor (3–1–1)

Dalton (13–0)
