Baylor Held to Draw at Boyd-Buchanan in Defensive Battle

Baylor Soccer made the short trip to Boyd-Buchanan for a non-region matchup and battled to a 1-1 draw in a tightly contested, defense-first game.

The Red Raiders struck early when Antonio Basan converted a penalty kick in the 11th minute to give Baylor the initial edge. Boyd-Buchanan answered just six minutes later with a penalty of their own, leveling the match at 1-1.

The game settled into a physical, possession-heavy contest from there. Baylor controlled stretches of play, particularly in the midfield, but found it difficult to break down a compact Boyd-Buchanan defense. Despite continued pressure, neither side was able to find the breakthrough in the second half.

"Give Coach Dustin Walker and Boyd-Buchanan credit — they do a great job of getting numbers behind the ball defensively and limiting quality chances," said Coach Curtis Blair. "I thought we did a good job of possessing the ball but struggled in the attacking box. We weren't dangerous enough in and around the box. The quality needed to be better, and it wasn't today."

Defensively, Baylor remained organized and composed, matching Boyd-Buchanan's discipline to preserve the draw.

Standout performances came from Thomas Vance, Noah Chawky, and Phin Ellison, who each played key roles in maintaining control and stability throughout the match.

With the result, Baylor moves to 13-1-2 on the season as they continue to build toward the postseason.
