The Baylor Red Raiders used a strong performance on the mound and timely hitting to secure a 2–0 victory over Legion Collegiate Academy on Thursday.
Baylor jumped on the board early in the first inning when Sam Godbout delivered a single that brought home the game's first run and gave the Red Raiders an early lead.
Left-hander Wells Grisham got the start for Baylor and was outstanding on the mound. Grisham worked five scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out three and walking three. The lefty recorded 15 outs and kept Legion from ever finding offensive rhythm.
Out of the bullpen, Foy Hamaker continued the strong pitching effort. Hamaker tossed two scoreless innings in relief, allowing just one hit while striking out three and walking one to preserve the shutout.
Baylor's offense saw contributions from several players. Mac Morris, Sam Godbout, Emerson Morris, and Zach Morrison each collected a hit for the Red Raiders. Godbout, Jack Schuman, and Knox Johnson each drove in a run for Baylor.
The Red Raiders were also sharp defensively, turning two double plays to help keep Legion off the scoreboard.
Baylor returns home Friday to host Rabun Gap–Nacoochee in their next contest.
Final: Baylor 2, Legion Collegiate Academy 0
