Baylor closed out a challenging stretch Saturday with a 3-0 loss to Webb Bell Buckle in a non-region match on campus.
The two teams battled through a scoreless first half, but Webb broke through in the 49th minute off a counter attack to take a 1-0 lead. Webb added a second goal in the 60th minute on another counter, then capped the scoring in the 71st minute with a far-post finish.
Coach Curtis Blair pointed to both Baylor's response to adversity and the demanding schedule as factors in the result.
"I have two feelings about the result of this game. One, we didn't handle adversity very well. We have to find a way to show more character when things get tough. Second, I put us in a really tough situation today. We have played three games in four days against really good competition. Not to take anything from Webb because they are a quality team, but we just didn't have any legs left," Blair said.
Baylor moves to 5-1-1 on the season, while Webb Bell Buckle improves to 4-0.
