Baylor Baseball showed its resilience Monday night, turning an early deficit into a dominant performance in a 15–3 victory over Chattanooga Christian in Game One of the series.
After falling behind 3–1 in the first inning, the Red Raiders quickly settled in and took control of the game. Baylor tied the contest in the second inning and then broke it open with a big offensive surge, scoring 14 unanswered runs to pull away.
Jack Schuman led the way at the plate with a big night, driving in four runs on three hits. Schuman delivered one of the key moments of the game in the fifth inning when he launched a three-run home run to left field. He also doubled earlier in the game to drive in another run.
Baylor continued to apply pressure offensively throughout the night. Kilby Hartley and Knox Johnson each delivered run-scoring hits during a key third-inning rally, while Brooks Berry added to the effort with multiple hits. Mac Morris, Berry, and Johnson all finished with multi-hit performances as Baylor tallied 13 hits as a team and showed patience at the plate by drawing 10 walks.
On the mound, Levi Fraley got the start for the Red Raiders and worked four innings, allowing five hits and three runs while striking out five. Miller Brock provided strong relief, tossing three scoreless innings while giving up just two hits and striking out three to help secure the win.
With the victory, Baylor takes Game One of the series and will look to carry the momentum into Game Two.
The Red Raiders return home Tuesday night for the second game of the series with first pitch scheduled for 6:30 PM on campus.
