Baylor Varsity Soccer opens the 2026 season with a 2-0 victory at home over Signal Mountain.
After a weather delay Monday night, both teams pushed the start of the season to the next day, and Baylor hosted Signal Mtn for the first game of the year.
It was 0-0 at halftime.
At the 64th minute, Abby Lewis scored off a Reese Rowlett corner kick.
At the 66th minute, Ayanna Hamler scored off a Charlotte Hoss pass.
It ended 2-0 for Baylor.
"What a great high school game for both teams. Signal Mtn is a very good team that loves to press you and put you under pressure. They are very well organized and are going to do big things this year. Coach Northcutt always has his teams play with so much passion and effort. I thought both teams spent a lot of energy in the first half, and the game settled down in the second half. I thought we did a much better job of letting the ball do the work after halftime. We had some players come off the bench that did really well for us. Anytime you can get a shutout at home, it's a great result."- Coach Blair
Standouts: Brylee Faulkner, Cassi Johnson, Grace King, Harley Elam, Macey Conrad, Ella Metzner (GK)
Next up is a quick turnaround as we head to Knoxville on Wednesday to play Knox West. Busy week to kick off the season.
