Baylor Football continued its unbeaten start to the season Friday night, putting together an explosive first half and rolling to a 45-17 victory over Montgomery Bell Academy at Baylor.
The Red Raiders scored on their first three possessions and built a commanding 38-3 halftime advantage on the way to improving to 6-0.
Baylor wasted little time getting started. Sam Shutters opened the scoring with a 35-yard field goal with 8:33 remaining in the first quarter.
Quarterback Keegan Croucher then went to work through the air, connecting with Braxton Rein for a 21-yard touchdown to make it 10-0. David Gabriel Georges added a 14-yard touchdown run late in the opening quarter, giving Baylor a 17-0 advantage after one.
The Red Raiders continued to pour it on in the second quarter.
DGG broke loose for a 37-yard touchdown run, his second score of the night, to extend the lead to 24-0.
After MBA got on the board with a field goal, Croucher answered by finding Beckham Stokes for a 15-yard touchdown. Croucher then used his legs just before halftime, scoring on a four-yard run with 20 seconds remaining to send Baylor into the locker room leading 38-3.
Baylor's offense struck again in the third quarter when David Knowles broke free for a 67-yard touchdown run, pushing the advantage to 45-3.
MBA scored twice in the fourth quarter to produce the final margin.
Baylor's offense was efficient throughout the night, piling up 445 total yards on just 43 plays, an average of 10.3 yards per snap. The Red Raiders produced 230 yards through the air and 215 on the ground while finishing with 21 first downs and no turnovers.
Croucher completed 14 of 19 passes for 188 yards and two touchdowns while adding 30 rushing yards and a touchdown on three carries.
Gabriel George led the ground attack with 87 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries, averaging nearly 11 yards per attempt. Knowles added 72 yards on five carries, highlighted by his 67-yard touchdown.
Stokes caught three passes for 49 yards and a touchdown, while Rein finished with three receptions for 42 yards and a score. Hank DeGennaro added three catches for 48 yards.
Defensively, Baylor limited MBA to 239 total yards and 59 yards rushing. The Red Raiders also forced two turnovers, including an interception by Cos Dematteo.
Baylor has now opened the season with six consecutive victories and heads into the next week at 6-0.
