Baylor Girls Soccer suffered its first region loss of the season Saturday night, falling 1-0 to Webb School of Knoxville in a tightly contested match at Baylor.
The Red Raiders and Webb battled through a scoreless opening half, with neither side able to find the breakthrough.
The deciding moment came in the 63rd minute when Webb connected on a shot from outside the box to take a 1-0 lead.
Baylor continued to push for the equalizer and created opportunities down the stretch, but the Red Raiders could not find the goal they needed as Webb held on for the victory.
"I thought we had a good week of preparation for what they wanted to do," head coach Curtis Blair said. "In the end, it came down to execution, and we have to be a little bit better next time.
"We will get to see them again in a couple of weeks, but for now, we'll turn our focus to Knox Catholic and get ready for this week."
Harley Elam, Charlotte Hoss, Kinsley Faulkner, Grace King and Ella Metzner were among Baylor's standouts in the match.
The loss moves Baylor to 7-3-1 overall and 2-1 in region play.
The Red Raiders will look to bounce back on the road against Knoxville Catholic in their next region matchup.
